Gao Shiqiang (Shandong, 1971) es un destacado artista audiovisual chino que desarrolla sus procesos creativos a partir de una perspectiva poético-documental para enfatizar en la metáfora paisajista así como en la idiosincrasia de su complejo país, dotando a las vibrantes imágenes de un carácter universalista. Aunque utiliza el video como medio de expresión, su lenguaje se puede confundir muchas veces con el cinematográfico, dando lugar a una obra hibrida que comulga entre el videoarte y cine experimental y que explora soberbiamente sus similitudes y diferencias.
Gao Shiqiang (Shandong, 1971) is a outstanding Chinese audio-visual artist that expands his creative processes from a poetic-documentary perspective with the aim to emphasize in a landscape metaphor, as well as in the idiosyncrasy of his complex country, endowing the resonant images with an universalistic style. Although he utilizes the video as a medium of expression, his language sometimes can be mistaken with a cinematographic one, giving place to a hybrid construction that blends between video art and experimental film and superbly explores its similarities and differences.

Banda sonora / Soundtrack: DONG LEI Sinopsis: "Rojo" trata sobre la Historia, sobre la verdad y la mentira, pero también sobre el lenguaje y la memoria y es una obra representativa de Gao Shiqiang, para la cual utiliza la región de Saibei como trasfondo para relatar una microscópica epopeya de la China comunista desde la perspectiva de un soldado. En las creaciones fílmicas de Shiqiang, el reconocimiento y reflejo de la realidad son umbríos y complejos. No aparecen los típicos símbolos chinos. Retrata un mundo ignorado por muchos durante mucho tiempo, una diminuta utopía que podemos imaginar después del desplome de la macroscópica narración totalitaria. Synopsis: "Red" is about History, about truth and lies, but also about the language and the memory. It is a representative work of Gao Shiqiang, for which he utilizes the region of Saibei as a background to relate a microscopic epic of the communist China since the perspective of a soldier. In Shiqiang filmic creations, the recognition and reflection of the reality are shady and complex. The typical Chinese symbols do not appear. It portrays a world ignored by many for a long time, a tiny utopia that we can imagine after the collapse of the macroscopic totalitarian narration. |
